Luisa Vera received her Ph.D. in Chemistry in La Laguna University-ULL (1998). Her doctoral thesis about membrane technologies for wastewater treatment was awarded by Chemistry Faculty and by the ULL. She worked in the Water Research Department of the Technological Institute of Canary Islands (ITC) (public enterprise engaged in R&D&i) from 2002 to 2009. Then, she headed the Promotion of Scientific R&TD Department of ITC for two years. She was partial-time Professor from 2003 to 2011. Nowadays, she is Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering Department at ULL. She is specialist on membrane technologies for wastewater reclamation and water reuse. She has published more than 50 papers (30 in indexed journals) and 50 congress contributions. She is research manager of 4 project founded by competitive programmes about membrane fouling in anaerobic and aerobic conditions, and membrane bioreactors (MBRs) for wastewater regeneration and reuse. She has also coordinated and participated in other projects about water cycle management, non-conventional water resources, decentralized water treatment, etc. On the other hand, she acts regularly as scientific reviewer for specialized journals and agencies, as well as scientific committees.
